This is the story about promises buried like Spring.

We recorded this episode on the 3rd floor of Maplehurst surrounded by the wrapping paper dregs of Christmas. And neither of us was ready to rush into the New Year just yet.

For all of us who feel like we’re back at a starting line when we only just crossed the finish of the old year here is an alternative to setting New Year’s resolutions.

Join Christie and Lisa-Jo as they spend some time remembering the ancient promises already waiting for us in the New Year. Let go the pressure to have to chart your own course perfectly. Here’s permission to believe that spring will come just as surely as those bulbs are buried in the dirt and uncertainty right now.

This is what happens when you remember you were supposed to take new photos for your website just as you’re preparing to plant a 1,000 or so bulbs. Not pictured: red rain boots with a rooster pattern. Grateful for the friend/husband who digs the holes and takes the photo.

Anyone else in the garden this weekend? 🌿

At a time of year when I want crisp, bright, and brilliant, my place consistently gives foggy, damp, and muted. Learning to love the beauty we’ve been given is a constant practice, a daily discipline.

Scrolling through photos I took around the house yesterday, I found this one where the light almost made the wallpaper sparkle. I cropped out the mess that seems permanently attached to the kitchen table these days, and found that to be a very satisfying exercise.
.
Some messes need to be cleaned and some just need to be ignored for a while. Because the wallpaper is sparkling, dust motes are dancing in the light from the window, and here comes another day. ✨
