At a time of year when I want crisp, bright, and brilliant, my place consistently gives foggy, damp, and muted. Learning to love the beauty we’ve been given is a constant practice, a daily discipline.

I’m cutting flowers and procrastinating on email. How about you?
Happy Friday, friends.

Scrolling through photos I took around the house yesterday, I found this one where the light almost made the wallpaper sparkle. I cropped out the mess that seems permanently attached to the kitchen table these days, and found that to be a very satisfying exercise.
Some messes need to be cleaned and some just need to be ignored for a while. Because the wallpaper is sparkling, dust motes are dancing in the light from the window, and here comes another day. ✨

Wow. Thank you so much for your generous response to the Garden Maker book trailer I shared in my last post. Your pre-orders make a difference and help new books come to the notice of booksellers and buyers so THANK YOU ❤️.
Three things for today:
1. I painted my dining room, and the dark rose color has me so excited for candlelit autumn meals around the table. I highly recommend color therapy if you feel stuck in a rut.
2. Today is Out of the Ordinary Books podcast day, and @lisajobaker and I are asking for your help. YES WE ARE ☺️
3. After two warm, sticky days a cool front is headed our way which means I will shift from Extreme Grumpiness to Filled With Energy, Happiness, and Joy overnight. I used to feel embarrassed that my mood was so weather dependent, but now I just look forward to the next cold front!
Are you happiest in sweater weather or on sandal days?
